Back.....again....soon.....

Where in the world have we been? Certainly not in the blogasphere! To the 3 devoted visitors, we will begin bringing things up to date so that you can see what our family has been up to. Well, 3 might be an exaggeration.

He has the thumb

He found his thumb. Caleb is lounging in the carseat, settled down for a short nap.

And then there were 3

That is correct. We are joyfully expecting our next baby! Besides the typical nausea and other symptoms, things are going great! The due date is May 9th, right between Micaiah's and Eli's birthdays. Micaiah accepted the news with excitement. He was quite beside himself when he found out he would not be attending Mom's first appointment. He's hoping for another brother. Eli was not so exubberant with the news but acknowledged the facts. He is already being forced to accept some necessary adjustments, not that that's a bad thing.

Jenny had her first appointment on Friday, and everything looks normal. The baby was very active, and we watched him flip around and stretch his legs out - pretty cool!

Here is a vivid picture so that you can get a clear idea of what the baby looks like.
Worthy to note: the technician informed us that it is not possible to determine gender at this time in the baby's development. Therefore, that thing you see sticking out is not what you think it is...

Hanging on a String

Ah, the rush of air flowing past his face as Micaiah braves the rope swing that Dad rigged in the maple tree. And yes, the carefull observer will see the sign of yet another open house. Maybe a buyer will come through today?

Back after a 17 month LOA

It has come to my attention that this blog has not been updated for a very very long time. While disappointment has been mounting for the two of you who regularly view it, hoping for some kind of activity. the vast majority of nonviewers probably haven't even noticed...or cared.

Nevertheless, I have decided to lay the past aside and do the right thing. I will begin sharing bits of our lives with the two or three of you who may, on occasion, find interest in it. We will win the loyalty back that we once had, crack a few smiles, and stay diligent to make our lives open to the masses and interesting to the few.

The following presentation is a superb video of the architectural prowess of our boys. The brilliance of this sculpture cannot be denied. The grace of developed minds is displayed in vivid clarity as they present a stunning sand castle.

Okoboji 2008

One of our favorite trips each year is to Okoboji, where the four offshoots of the Conner Clan 'reconnect' and manage to cooperate for an entire week under one roof. Though some petty grievances might be aired throughout the week, they are vastly overshadowed by the new memories we all make with the beach, crafts, games, food, and the food. Yes, I meant to be redundant. I really did.

Of course we spent hours at the beach...

And of course we had to bury Dad...

More fun in the sand...

More fun in the water...

Fresh sweet corn for supper...

There's extra time for games and books...

And finally, the car ride home...

Eli is mobile!!

It's official, Eli is a "walking man" as we say in our home. As you can see in the picture, he is so excited - he just giggles & grins because he knows he is doing something really special. He has taken several steps before this, but as of last Thursday evening, Eli's main mode of transportation is walking. He made the transition quite abruptly & is fairly steady on his feet with just five days of practice under his belt (he even attempted to walk on the sand at the park today). As I said in an earlier post, I really thought he would have been walking three months ago...maybe he just wanted to be sure he knew what he was doing before he showcased his skill in public. It has been fun watching big brother Micaiah cheer Eli on in his newfound talent.
